Over the past six years the Walt Disney Company has been on a big ticket purchasing binge with its purchase of Pixar and Marvel in 2006 and 2009 respectively. Now today it has been reported (Hollywood Reporter) that Disney has picked up Lucasfilm for a whopping $4 billion. Looks like Luke Skywalker will be joining the ranks of the X-men and Toy Story in the house that Mickey built. So I got to thinking what may happen now that the Star Wars world is able to join with the Disney universe.

Clik here to view.Disney really got a great deal. Not only did they get the Star Wars franchise but they got the very lucrative merchandising and consumer products business. So what things might we see (and the products that are made out of them)?
- Obi Wan Kenobi’s Jedi School for Disney Princesses – coming to a TV and toy store near you
- Captain Hook, Scar and Ursula become Darth Vader’s apprentices in the next Star Wars Cartoon
- Mickey Mouse opens up a club on Coruscant
- Jar Jar Binks, Flounder and Sebastian star in a new underwater version of 3′s company
- Yoda and Genie become a crime fighting duo in a new live action buddy cop movie
But wait, there’s more … As part of the deal they’ve also announced that a NEW Star Wars movie is to be released in 2015. We’re light on the details right now though I’m sure the rumor mill has started to churn.
Who knows what this deal will really mean for the consumers. George Lucas and stockholders certainly made made a killing off the deal. Will these or other crossovers really come to fruition, maybe. Nothing really changed with Disney’s purchase of Marvel.
What do you think might happen?
